ASTORIA DANCE

Sunday March 23, 2025 - 3 p.m.

MIM, Rue Montagne de la Cour 2, 1000 Brussels

ASTORIA presents ASTORIA DANCE

A variable geometry ensemble, all graduates of Royal Conservatories, winners of international competitions, or members of major orchestras, ASTORIA succeeds in imposing its identity thanks to the energy, rigor, and emotion that emanate from its interpretation.

Like Astor Piazzolla, Astoria is at a crossroads, with an extreme concern for musical quality which brings its approach closer to the classical universe, up to and including questions of acoustics and recording.

While bringing to the fore the quality of the Argentine master's writing, the Ensemble takes care to preserve the rhythmic and melodic bewitchment of the originals.

Since its creation in 2004, the ensemble has presented the music of Astor Piazzolla on the biggest Belgian and international stages and participated in various festivals (Brussels Summer Festival, Basilica Festival van Vlaanderen, Bugari Festival, Musiq'3 Festival, Castelfidardo Festival (Italy), International Cyclades Festival (Greece) ....

This living, vibrant music, which speaks of love, pain, hope and melancholy will carry you away in a maelstrom of sensations.

It is with both freshness and density that the standards of “tango nuevo” are revisited. These, by covering a wide range of feelings, ranging from tender mischief to sweet nostalgia through overflowing joy, take us on a journey from the suburbs of Buenos Aires to the warm lands buried under tropical flora.
